Instagram Takeover – Birthe Piontek

Birthe Piontek’s art practice holds a special interest in the relationship between memory, female identity, and its representation in our society. This week she’s taking over the Paper Journal Instagram to show extracts from recently published book Abendlied, which was award the 2018 Burtynsky Grant.

Her photographs are in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago and the Museum of Applied Arts in Gera, Germany, and have appeared in a number of international publications such as The New York Times Magazine, Le Monde, Wired and The New Yorker.
