Dimitriy Levdanski describes his work as ‘personal, intimate, and surreal’. He accentuates his analogue skills with digital manipulation, creating new stories through photomontage. His series Not Here This August focuses on the act of vacationing, disrupting the ideal getaway with acidic pink landscapes and warped horizons. In Baikonur 97 he delves into his family’s photo album to construct alternative histories that touch on issues of identity, and immigration.
Born in Kazakhstan in 1989 to Ukrainian-Russian parents, and raised in Barcelona, Spain. Levdanski is a world traveller, having lived in seven major cities between Oskemen and New York. He is the winner of the Photogenic Festival Barcelona, New Talent Category, 2017, and Neo2 Editorial Fashion Shoot at 080 Fashion Week, 2017, and works frequently as an editorial photographer for fashion & culture magazines.
Levdanski is taking over @paperjournalmag from today until the 4th of August. You can follow him @dimitriodaily and see more of his work at levdanski.com.
