Patrick O’Malley takes his camera from the studio to beach, capturing kitsch sights and scenes of leisure & excess. His saturated, flattened still lifes and portraits reveal the boundless beauty and irony of our contemporary landscapes.
Born in Omaha, Nebraska 1989, he received his BFA from the School of Visual Arts and is now based in Brooklyn, New York. His work has been shown in group exhibitions in the United States and Europe and he’s been commissioned for editorial and advertising shoots by The New York Times, Vice, Union Surfboards, and Rough Trade Magazine.
O’Malley is taking over @paperjournalmag from today until 27 May. Follow him @pat.omalley and see more of his work at www.patomalley.net.
