Sophie Green’s documentary practice focuses often-unseen communities and subcultures: from the industrial estate churches of London’s Aladura Spiritualist communities, to the British countryside to document the small community of American rodeo enthusiasts, to medieval town of Châteaugiron, to cover Red Love, a festival dedicated to redheads. She describes her sympathetic approach as ‘a collaboration’, and works closely with her subjects to produce images that capture their idiosyncrasies, yet remain respectful to their practices and identities.
Born in 1991 and living in London, her work has featured across an extensive list of publications, including The Financial Times Weekend Magazine, TIME, The Sunday Times Magazine, M Le Magazine Du Monde, and The Guardian. She has also worked with commercial clients such as Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Ally Capellino, Adidas, and Google.
Green is taking over @paperjournalmag from today until the 22nd of July. You can follow her @sophiegreenstudio and see more of her work at www.sophiegreenphotography.com.
