Instagram Takeover – Vincent Desailly

In 2018, documentary photographer Vincent Desailly travelled from his native France to Atlanta, Georgia to photograph the city that birthed Trap music, a style of rap that began around fifteen years ago and which has led global trends for the past five years. Along the way, he photographed residents, musicians, and drug dealers living together, side-by-side.

The photographs from this journey are collected together in his first monograph, The Trap. The book was shortlisted for the Dummy Book Award at Rencontres d’Arles 2019, and was formally launched at Paris Photo later that year, published by Hatje Cantz.

Desailly co-founded the French culture and society magazine Snatch, and today forms one half of creative practice Vingt Deux. His commercial editorial work has been featured by L’Officiel, Hypebeast, M le Monde, and Vanity Fair France.

Vincent Desailly is taking over @paperjournalmag from today until the 24th of February. You can follow him @vincentdesailly and see more of his work at vincent-desailly.com.
