After 10 years, we are deeply saddened to announce that Paper Journal is closing.

Since launching in 2013, Paper Journal has reached both the establishment as well as emerging, contemporary opinion leaders. It combined critical yet accessible writing with the work of some of the world’s best emerging and established creative talents.

Paper Journal has existed thanks to the many people that have volunteered their time, skills, and passion for the visual arts and fashion; it really has been a labour of love!

However, it has become an increasingly challenging time—the difficulty we all faced during the pandemic, along with the current economic downturn, has meant that it is no longer viable to continue running Paper Journal in its current capacity. Relying on funding and brand partnerships to keep us afloat has become more and more difficult and is no longer sustainable.

We are so incredibly proud of all the work we have published, and eternally grateful to the artists, writers, interns, galleries, fairs, awards, publishers, bookstores and more, who have provided us with so much support since we launched. Thank you.

A massive heartfelt thank you as well to our readers—to those that have followed us since the beginning, and to those that found us more recently via our Instagram takeovers.

Thank you also to our small team—Giada, Shirley, and Jacob—who worked so tirelessly, and who never stopped believing in the potential of Paper Journal being the culturally relevant platform that it grew to be. Thank you for helping to shape our vision.
