In 2018, Taylor Kay Johnson followed a group of teenage boxers in Oakland, California. While these kids may, ultimately, be brought together by action, Johnson depicts them at rest; in the changing rooms, after fights, and at play – long after the dust has settled. This work was published as Kings by D3i Press in 2018.
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Johnson received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from California College of the Arts. Her work has recently been exhibited at the Aperture Foundation gallery in New York and presented by The California Sunday Magazine’s first all photography issue and exhibition, At Home: In The American West.
