In a follow-up to the great success that was Peter Milne’s 2015 publication, A Day in the Life of Rowland S Howard, M.33 announces the publication of Juvenilia. Set against the backdrop of Milne’s Melbourne youth during the 1970s and 1980s, this collection of 70 plus photographs documents Milne’s social circle of up and coming creative minds doing what they did best – being young. Through his lens, Milne captured fleeting moments of youth, made up of trips to the beach, to the city, to some of Melbourne’s most iconic music venues, and more. From images of school friends Gina Riley and Rowland S Howard to the Boys Next Door, this ensemble of work proves that Milne’s talent is an undeniably innate one, showing that even at the tender age of 16, his photographs translated the same humour, originality and expert eye they do today.
Musician, producer, and composer Mick Harvey will be launching Juvenilia on Sunday, 1 March, 15:00-16:30 at the Centre for Contemporary Photography. 404 George Street, Fitzroy, Victoria 3065.
Juvenilia is on sale via M.33 from 1 March, 2020.
