Angelo Formato – The Women of my Life

This project is a tribute to the women who have played a main role in my life that have helped me to become the person I am today. I started this project in 2012 when I moved to England immediately after my studies, since then I have been able to rediscover the importance of family, which, for a person who lives or has lived far away like me, becomes more than ever a main point in life. During the last 9 years spent in London, I was going back home to Naples, the city where I was born, only for the holidays. After a beautiful experience, I decide to return home in September 2020.

The first half of 2020 was difficult, spending the lockdown in London away from my loved ones, but it was also a beautiful moment of personal rediscovery, introspection and awareness that made me decide to want to go back to Italy.

Today, after almost nine wonderful years of experience abroad, I have finally found my balance. I don’t know what the future has in store for me, but I am happy with all the challenges, lessons learned, satisfactions, ups and downs that I have been able to face. Above all, I am delighted to finally be able to spend time with my family, having the opportunity today to be able to share my future goals with them.

Angelo Formato was born and raised in the city of Naples in southern Italy, moved to London in 2012 to pursue his dream of becoming a photographer. Inspired equally by his vision of femininity as well as by the use of creative styling, he portrays interesting characters with a natural and real approach in terms of lighting and photography. Formato owes a lot of his inspiration in photography to his family who had a big influence on his work and shaped him as a person and as an artist. He has since worked for multiple international clients publications such as Vogue, Elle, Document Journal amongst others.
