Cool briny water laps against rough concrete and layers the divers’ skin in a thin film of salt, each drop glistens under the bright sun. Jorge Perez Ortiz perfectly captures the lazy summer days of the boys who hang out at La Caleta. This photograph represents the end of a journey across a continent and through art: Ortiz was born and grew up in Valladolid, Spain. After completing his undergraduate degree in Fine Art he moved to London to study at the London College of Fashion, there he discovered a new way of storytelling, through the medium of photography.
Ortiz has since moved back to Barcelona, Spain, where he now works as a photographer and art director. His clients include Loewe, Lacoste, Arket, Bimba&Lola, Zara, Mango, Bershka, Pull&Bear. While his work has been featured by numerous publications: Hercules Universal, Hero, The Greatest, Boycott, Candy, L’officiel Hommes, and Sleek.
