Michele Groskopf grew up amongst the suburbs of Toronto, Canada, before escaping to Los Angeles, USA, via the School Of Visual Arts in New York. For over twenty years she’s been shooting her daily life on the streets of these cities. Her distinctive, brash style of flash lighting and saturated candy colours brings viewers up close and personal with the sunbleached skin and plastic nails of her subjects.
Groskopf has built a portfolio of portraiture and photojournalism that has seen her commissioned by publications including the New York Times, NY Magazine, The New Yorker, GQ, Vanity Fair, People, and Wired Magazine. Her street photography is represented by PARISTEXASLA Gallery, and her upcoming monograph is due to be released with Eyeshot Publications later this year.
Michelle Groskopf is taking over @paperjournalmag from today until the 2nd of May. You can follow her @michellegroskopf and see more of her work at mgroskopf.com.
