Peering through frosted glass, catching a glimpse of a face, Sarah van Rij‘s photography revels in voyeurism. Reflections and transparencies allow the textures of the city to blend seamlessly – we can try to read the separate layers, or indulge all at once. Her pictures are constructed, this isn’t the work of the haphazard street photographer, but the eye of connoisseur, seeking out visual pleasure.
Born in 1990 and working between Amsterdam and Paris, van Rij has worked for clients including JACQUEMUS, Hermès, The Last Magazine, Primary Paper, Vrij Nederland, VICE, and i-D. In September 2019 she exhibited as part of Foam First Editions at the Foam Photography Museum, Amsterdam.
