Palm* Photo Prize 2020 – Our Picks

Tais Sirote

Since 2018, the annual Palm* Photo Prize has aimed to support, elevate and showcase the best of the new wave of image-makers. Open to all photographers working in all disciplines and styles, with a focus on strong stand-alone imagery and no set themes, and with the backing of creativehub, Polaroid Originals, i-D and Labyrinth Photographic, the prize is one of the best places to discover new practitioners.

This year sees the third edition of the prize, submissions were open between the 1st – 30th of March and over 7000 entries were received. Out of those, 100 photographers were shortlisted, and just twenty selected as finalists. These lucky few are now in the running for several prizes: the Judge’s Panel 1st place, and Judge’s Panel 2nd place, the People’s Choice Award, and the People’s Choice Instagram Award. The Judge’s Panel prizes and People’s Choice Instagram Award will  be announced online on the 30th of May 2020.

This year’s judges are Editor-in-Chief of i-D Alistair McKimm, Senior Curator at The Photographers’ Gallery Karen McQuaid, Assistant Curator at Tate Modern Sarah Allen, writer, curator, artist and teacher David Campany, photo editor at Polaroid Jessica Lopez, and founder of Palm* Studios Lola Paprocka.
