Caleb Stein is a multi-media artist with an emphasis on photography and its relationship to memory. His work explores communities and the dynamic, energetic interactions that take place within them. Stein’s first project Down by the Hudson (2016-19) is his ode to the struggles and beauties of life in Poughkeepsie, a small town in Upstate New York, incidentally the place where he first met his wife.
Stein worked formerly as a studio assistant for street photographer Bruce Gilden. In 2019 he was included in the Palm* Photo Prize and exhibited at theprintspace gallery during Photo London. His work has been published in Dazed, Vogue Italia, LensCulture, It’s Nice That, WePresent, and Leica Fotografie Internationale, among others.
